Imagine my shock. At 1:30 am I get a phone call from the fire department regarding a large structure fire at my office building location. I was a bit out of it to get a phone call like that so late at night. So I asked, 'What is a large structure fire?' And the fire department responded, 'Your building is on fire!'
Okay, that's more clear now. Later that morning I went to my building and sure enough, it had burned down. Waiting for me was a representative from The Greenspan Company / Adjusters International. They are public adjusters that are insurance claims adjusters that advocate for the insured, rather than for the insurance company. They represented me in working with the insurance company to get the construction bids from contractors and to negotiate with the insurance company. I don't know how to do all that, nor do I have the time to figure it all out.
It took just over a year to get a check from the insurance company because of various issues and delays on the part of the insurance company. Thank goodness I had Richard Tanitsky and the staff to help me along the way. They are very friendly and professional and you can't do a large claim by yourself. You need their help. Greenspan is a company that changed my family's lives forever. It started with a huge flood of water in our basement due to a pipe breakage. This happened around 5:00 pm.
The fire fighters came around and helped in sweeping out the water in the living area. They advised us that we Needed to report to our insurance rightaway because this is a serious situation, which we didn't know. We called our insurance thereafter, to make the report. It took them a little while to get a company out.
At this time, it was already 9:30pm. We were confused, not knowing what to do, especially that we have young kids. The restoration company from our insurance eventually showed up around 10:30pm or 11:00pm.
They set up their blowers throughout the house and gave us paperwork to sign and all these lasted till about 1:00a.m - 2:00 a.m. They then left. We felt alone and confused again not knowing where to go from here. We thought we just needed to wait for the house to dry up as the insurance didn't tell us anything further. We were thinking of moving to the hotel the next day, on our own. Miraculously, a gentleman showed up at our house in the early morning around 7:30a.m - 8:00a.m. He introduced himself ROBERT CAREY and he works for Greenspan.
He told us about their company, GREENSPAN. He said that, they represent home owners in situation like this, so that home owners can get what they deserve within their policy. We signed the contract with him, after verifying the various references he had on him. Everyone we talked to had something positive to say. Greenspan wasted no time.
The next day their crew showed up at our house with a KEVIN STANGER as the lead. They took a tour of the house to determine the extent of the water damage. Kevin Stanger immediately ordered that we needed to move out, as the house was not habitable with the flood situation. He immediately made a phone call and connected us with the person that will relocate us from the house to a COMPARABLE accommodation.
Everything started taking shape immediately. We finally laughed and was relieved. We first moved to a hotel of our CHOICE in our neighborhood for 2 weeks and thereafter to a COMPARABLE house in our neighborhood. Things started taking shape immediately Greenspan took over.
Greenspan brought their different specialist on board and it was determined that the extent of the water damage will mean a total replacement of all our wooden floor and the cabinets. The repair at our house was a major one.
They took a sample of all our wooden floor to determine the type of wood that was damaged, so that we can get the right wood replacement. We had meetings so many times regarding the steps towards repair. TEAM-1 Restoration Company, came on board through Greenspan and they did a marvelous job.
We were gone from our house for about 8months or so. Our lifestyle did not change a bit. Kevin Stanger represented us from start to finish. He also told us to submit our receipts for food and gas for reimbursement, during our stay at the hotel. Kevin stood his ground on what the insurance should cover, considering the damage and our policy.
Greenspan fought for us with our insurance, to make that sure we got what we deserved, based on our policy, Did I mention that they secured the services of professional movers to pack our things, labeled and stored them away. When our house was completed, the movers unpacked everything and arranged the house the way they met it. It felt like nothing happened. Communication was also great. Kevin will return your call the same day or return your email almost immediately.
If Kevin is out of town or cannot get back to you rightaway for some reason, Phyllis Mullen ((Kevin's assistant), jumps in right away. We were never left hanging.
There were no surprises at all. Everything was transparent from the beginning to the end. Even though, we were sad that our house got flooded, Greenspan was there to give us peace of mind after the flood. Thank you to Robert Carey for starting the 'rescue mission'.
He then handed the baton to Kevin Stanger, who then completed the journey. Greenspan has a GREAT TEAM! With much appreciation for a job well done! One of the worst experiences of a life time is losing pretty much everything you own in a fire. Closely related to that is trying to work through the reimbursement for loss from the fire. We had a good insurer who was prompt at showing up to offer assistance, but quickly learned there is much the average person does not know about compensation.
We were very fortunate to have Bruce Tibert and his team work with us, or more accurately, hand hold us, through the long and complicated process. Fortunately, we were properly insured and were able to rebuild mostly due to their guidance and experience. Believe me, there are things you will never think about it if you do not have the expertise of someone like Bruce and the Greenspan group to help you through the and advocating for you rather than the insurer providing only the required assistance.
When you suffer a loss due to fire, you need these experts to help you get everything taken care of. I hope to never need them again, but Bruce and Greenspan would be my first telephone call if misfortune struck again.

“the promises that the insurance adjuster makes immediately following a fire do not always pan out the explanation of our business interruption coverage was way off base. Prior to the fire, I thought I understood the provisions of our coverage but of course that was not the case.
Never having filed a major claim before, it came as a shock to find that my policy did not really say what it seemed to. Without your guidance and assistance in submitting my claims, I am certain that I would have had little success in recovering the money due to Valley Lumber Co.” Valley Lumber & Building Supply Company Dan Graves General Manager.
“The settlement was beyond our expectations and almost three times what we thought it would be. You got us the best result and your effort to negotiate the depreciation deduction up front was excellent. Even our bank was very happy with your services.
We recovered much more than we ever thought we could have on our own. The fees we paid were worth every penny in terms of the service received. You saved us tremendous amounts of time and headaches. There is no way we could have negotiated the settlement you did. ” Riverpark Apartments Efrain Ramirez President. “I started negotiating with their adjuster on my own after the loss occurred. That was perhaps the worst business decision I have ever made.
By the time I engaged your services the insurance company had recommended a repair plan that was totally unacceptable. It took Greenspan Adjusters International, Inc. To undo that plan and negotiate the settlement to which we agreed. Based upon the offer to settle before and the one we finally accepted, the final settlement was nearly three times the original offer.
That was a good investment!” Lancaster Co. Lowell Lancaster. “We were very fortunate to have found your firm to help us. Your team did a wonderful job of properly investigating, measuring, and negotiating the lossWith your hard work we were able to settle the building claim for several million dollars, which was the right amount that we were owed to restore the hotel back to its pre-loss conditionThe fee we paid was well earned and more than likely much less than legal representation would have cost on our own.” Best Western Seaside Resort Terrance J. Bichsel President.

10 Things You Can Do To Make Disaster Recovery Go More Smoothly By definition, disasters are rarely tame or predictable, and few property owners are truly prepared for the full extent and nature of a disaster when it does strike. While recovery is never easy, there are a few key steps you can take before and after an event to help make your insurance claim — which is, after all, the basis for your financial recovery — go more smoothly. Pre-Event 1 – Take photographs of property before a disaster occurs. Photographs will be important to prove the extent of your damages later. Take new photos every year, or after any alterations to the property.
2 – Back up business-critical information. Make sure your business-critical client records and communications systems are backed up off site so you can immediately retrieve key client information, financial documents, and sales histories. Having this information immediately available can make or break your public relations and disaster recovery efforts. 3 – Have a response team in place. Put a claim management team together before a disaster strikes and assign a lead spokesperson. Only an individual who is knowledgeable in the area of insurance should handle interactions with your carrier.
This is essential, since the smallest comment can make a big difference in how much money you recover. Post-Event 4 – Protect your property from further damage.
Where necessary, to protect your belongings and keep others from getting hurt. 5 – Beware of contractors asking you to sign a contract for non-emergency services. Ideally, you should not hire a contractor to rebuild your business until you have agreed on a repair/replacement scope of damage and an estimate of pricing with your insurance company. Then you will know how much you have to spend on reconstruction. 6 – Document the damage.
Photograph or videotape the scene, including the “debris pile,” before you begin any cleanup efforts. When estimating damages, do not rely solely on your historical records. Instead, secure replacement cost estimates. 7 – Request a complete copy of your insurance policy. Read and make sure you understand your rights and obligations under your insurance policy before entering into any serious discussions or negotiations with your carrier. Seek out a professional to help you understand what your policy actually covers and, just as important, what it doesn’t.
8 – Document all your activities and expenses. Keep a log of all activities and save all receipts, including those for property replacement and extra expenses. This will provide the documentation a disaster recovery professional requires to present expenses to your carrier, and you will know which expenses will be reimbursed as you rebuild.

9 – Make decisions that are best for the survival of your business. Policyholders often expect the insurance company to tell them what to do to save their business. Insurance company adjusters are simply auditors of your property insurance claim. Only you know your business and what’s best for your recovery.
![]()
10 – Hire your own experts. The insurance adjuster sent by your carrier to evaluate the damages is working exclusively for the insurance company, not for you. It’s your responsibility to document and submit your claim. Make sure you have someone on your side who knows insurance inside and out to ensure that you get a full, fair and expedited settlement — while you concentrate on maintaining your operations, not on claim details. Understand that your claim will have to be verified. I was dubious at first (to say the least) about the concept and the company but my husband and I discussed it and decided to use them instead of dealing with Allstate ourselves. The manager and our interface were Ken Crown (all initial contacts) and Clay Gibson (our personal case manage). We came to respect and appreciate them for what they are and everything they do (and did for us).
This was the best possible decision/thing we could have done given the disaster we went through. I have no doubt about this. They put in a MASSIVE amount of work into our claim and managed a (recalcitrant would be kind) insurance company. With their efforts (and of their staff including Heather who worked on our personal property claim) we came through financially whole and will always be grateful.
We NEVER could have achieved the recovery they did because they know how the process works. So many things the insurance company never tells you!
They are more than worth every penny of their fees. A way to think of this is if you get sued or have a legal problem you hire a lawyer to work for you as the person suing you or whatever company you have a problem for CERTAINLY has a lawyer working for/defending their interests. This is what Greenspan does for you. Yes, the insurance company assigns a claims adjuster to your case but they are NOT your advocate.
They work for the insurance company. So it makes sense any way you look at it! Yes, there were some bumps in the road but all were handled professionally and successfully. We're absolutely willing to answer any/all questions. Just contact us or ask Ken or Clay to put us in touch if you want to chat or call us at 831-620-0994. WORD OF WARNING. We wish SO much that we would have not gone with Greenspan.
How on earth do you know ahead of time? They promised EVERYTHING and delivered so little.
It hurts my heart. Our house burned down - we were totally NOT equipped to know what was best.
This was not something we prepared for. It seemed we were putting ourselves in the right hands. If you want details: DISAPPOINTMENT #1: We got an initial settlement amount (a substantial sum) from our insurance company. LATER, when we SIGNED with Greenspan, they said 'oh we will need 10% of that money you got, even before you signed up with us'.
This did not seem fair but eventually we caved in because we HAD TO if we wanted their help. (we should have listened to the warning bells.) DISAPPOINTMENT #2: After the first month, we hardly EVER heard from them again. Repeated calls and emails to them got us nothing. There was always someone on vacation or out of the country. The honeymoon was definitely over.
It was awful. Not only were we dealing with the loss of our home but we were alone in the whole process. DISAPPOINTMENT #3: They had a job to do - they were to be our 'go-between' with the insurance company. Most of the time they did NOT do this. The insurance company came back to us later, saying there were things that were supposed to be approved first, before building, but that Greenspan had not done it, causing the insurance company to deny the claim. Well, if my heart were in it I would keep going on and on but that's all I stomach for now.
All I know is now they DO NOT hold up their end of things but expect to still BE PAID. They're just awful. We made the right choice with Greenspan. Was an incredibly overwhelming ordeal to lose our home and begin the process of rebuild. Greenspan earned their pay for us.
Clay Gibson was a great resource for us; invaluable in helping us navigate, prepare for and make the decision we had to. He guided us through evaluating and negotiating contractors and anticipating the process. Was also very generous with his and his team's time. We are back in our home(rebuilt) and not in debt. Tough decision to give some of a rebuild money to anything other than rebuilding but was the right choice for us; for our family's peace of mind and our home. I would suggest, to make sure you negotiate the rate and confirm it is the same on documentation at time of signing.
We suffered a devastating home fire in late July and, realizing we were overwhelmed and uneducated about the insurance claims process, decided to hire the Greenspan Company to represent us. It was the best move we could have made. Our adjuster, Clay Gibson, was absolutely professional, returned calls quickly, kept us in the loop, and, most importantly, knew exactly how best to work with our insurance company to facilitate a timely and complete settlement of our claim. Greenspan's fee was fair, appropriate for the level of detail and service involved, and, in our opinion, more than paid for by the thoroughness and completeness of the claim and the resulting settlement. I'd hire them again in a second.
These guys are the real deal. When a disaster strikes all we usually see is the loss and destruction. I went through that, big time, a few years ago when the motel that my company owns was destroyed by a fire caused by an arsonist. The insurance sent an adjuster who kept talking about all the exclusions and what else is not covered - in the end he came up with an amount that would have covered only a fraction of the losses. I thought that I would simply have to bite the bullet and count my losses.
However, before I signed the paperwork for the acceptance of the settlement I got a call from Dow Brooks of Greenspan Company. At first I was very skeptical and cautious about trusting a stranger in this matter, since I was aware of unscrupulous individuals trying to scam people in situations like these. I was surprised, though, that Dow was willing to fly out where I was and just tell me what Greenspan can offer me in my situation without any commitment on my part to sign up for his program. So, I agreed to meet with him the next day. That turned out to be THE BEST THING I DID regarding this terribly costly fire. Josh Scott was assigned to work on my claim.
And boy, did he work on that?! He just blew me away by his professionalism, his skills and the knowledge of his field. On the other hand I discovered that he is also an ethical person who will not go after the insurance company in a dishonest way, which really impressed me and increased my trust in him as a person and his expertise. The adjusters of the insurance company tried to wiggle out of their responsibility to pay on many, many instances, which I would not known even existed, if it wasn't for Josh to point them out.
It took a long and vigorous struggle to close this case, but Josh came out with flying colors. Another person who was extremely helpful and skilled was Chris Glenister who worked on the business loss part. Now I can look back at that disaster and smile - instead of my company ending up hundreds of thousands of dollars in the red, we came out very comfortably in the black, WITH ALL OF OUR LOSESS COVERED! Thank you guys, especially Josh! I recommend Greenspan Company, Dow Brooks, Chris Glenister and especially Josh Scott as highly as I possibly can! If you have experienced a casualty loss, you would be a fool not to retain the services of Greenspan - it's a simple math! My apartment building in the Valencia Corridor of San Francisco had a severe fire days before I was leaving to visit family in Ireland.
It was a stressful time. I was about to get on a plane and now had to deal with the barrage of issues that the insurance company was throwing my way; restoration companies, adjusters, debris removal, asbestos testing, etc. I am thankful to have met Steve Severaid Rino Benenati and Masood Khan. The Greenspan Co./Adjusters International took the stress out of my hands and took charge of all that needed to be done. When I returned several weeks later I saw the fruits of their retention.
Much of the initial work had been done. A team of experts had been assembled and was working away at getting the insurance company to properly scope and assess the damages. As the claim progressed, the loss of rents limit was maximized. We were also able to overcome a coverage issue where the insurer had failed to include code coverage. The policy was reformed to include it. I saw first-hand how the Greenspan team very adeptly navigated my claim through the complex world of insurance always staying two steps ahead of the adjuster. Ultimately, the settlement achieved by their efforts was almost 2.5 times the initial offer.
I am glad I had Greenspan in my corner. I could not have done it alone. I never knew what a public adjuster was until our home suffered a tremendous accidental fire loss. We are grateful that someone referred us to Masood Khan, Esq. Of The Greenspan Co./Adjusters International. We knew the claim was beyond our comfort zone and expertise.
Upon advice from several friends and referrals we retained The Greenspan Co./Adjusters International. Their expertise and resources were instrumental in our favorable settlement. We knew our hands were full when we first met our insurance adjuster. The insurance adjuster tried to dissuade us from hiring a public adjuster. He sought to become our friend and even indicated that he knew some of my high school classmates. He suggested that he would take care of us.

He stated that we did not need to hire a public adjuster. We knew right away something was amiss. We also gauged pretty quickly that his assessment of the damages was inaccurate.
We retained The Greenspan Co./Adjusters International to get what we were rightfully owed. Our insurer then brought out an army of consultants to, what we immediately realized was a ploy to reduce our insurance benefits. They brought out multiple contractors and restorations firms to try and clean and save our inventory and building improvements. Thankfully, we had our own advocate in Masood to represent our best interests. With his efforts our building loss settled for almost triple what my insurance company offered. If you have a fire loss, call Masood at The Greenspan Co./Adjusters International.
He did a fantastic job. We experienced a fire which completely destroyed our home and all personal possessions. Greenspan handled our loss and did an outstanding job of documenting the loss, valuing the structure and the contents, and proceeded to work diligently to maximize the recovery from the insurance company. I worked with Ken Crown and Clay Gibson. Each was extremely professional throughout the entire recovery process. My contact for the detailed work was Clay Gibson.
Clay's communication throughout, was exceptional. He kept us informed about all aspects of the recovery. And oh my gosh, is there a lot involved in trying to recover from an insurance company that knows every trick in the book to try and NOT pay out. Clay and his team worked through all aspects of the insurance company's shenanigans and ended up maximizing the recovery. I am very pleased with Greenspan's personnel, their work, and the outcome. We had a terrible fire at our home in San Francisco. I am a Realtor at a local prominent brokerage in San Francisco.
I am so glad that our family was introduced to The Greenspan Co./Adjusters International shortly after our loss. The results that The Greenspan Co./Adjusters International achieved were incredible.

We knew right away from the insurance adjuster's demeanor that he was going to try to shortchange us on what we were entitled under our insurance policy. He was real friendly at first. Then he started delaying and questioning everything - it seemed like a calculated nickel and dime process. It was very clear that the adjuster was only concerned about serving the interests of the insurance company and not our family. With the help from Masood Khan, Esq. And his team at The Greenspan Co./Adjusters International we were able to streamline the process, level the field, and double the recovery. Masood was well versed in insurance, thorough and an effective negotiator.
His legal background was instrumental in resolving some of the issues. The fees were based on a contingency and were very reasonable compared to the efforts and the ultimate results. We are very grateful for all their hard work. I am so grateful for Josh Scott and the Greenspan company.
We had a house fire in July of this year. At our first meeting with our insurance Company-it became very clear that we were not in 'good hands' and they were planning to do as little as possible to repair our home. A friend of a friend suggested we contact the Greenspan Company as they had been very successful in helping him. After meeting with them we felt confident in hiring their team to help us through this process. Our adjuster Josh Scott is knowledgeable, professional and always available.
Josh has fought a good battle for us. (we think he deserves a Superman Cape!) The insurance adjusters first quote for the repair of our home was a ridiculous $23,000 to only repair our garage. (the whole house sustained smoke damage) Thanks to Josh, the good hands people are now at a more realistic $150,000! Now the repairs can begin! I highly recommend hiring this team of experts if you find yourself in a bind due to a fire or flood.
(if you are in the Phoenix metro area-ask for Josh!) They can help alleviate the stress and allow you to get 'back to normal' quicker! Our Church, East Bay Korean Church of the Nazarene, suffered a devastating fire that entirely destroyed our facilities. We were not familiar with the intricacies of insurance and did not know where to turn. We were still trying to process what happened when our insurance company showed up with an army of people that specialized in different parts of the claim. We met with Greg Clifford and Ken Crown of Greenspan shortly after that and they patiently explained to us the claims process and what to expect. Once we hired The Greenspan Company for a nominal fee they immediately matched the insurance company's army with our public adjuster, Masood Khan and other specialists that had the Church's best interest in mind. Masood was able to get us into a temporary location very quickly.
His experience in the field, and knowledge of the insurance world guided us through the settlement process. We would not have our newly built church if it were not for all of Masood's hard work. We are extremely happy with the outcome and would recommend The Greenspan Company to anyone who has suffered a large loss.
They really know their stuff!! Suffering from a fire loss is difficult enough. A life time of memories, irreplaceable articles and nothing but chaos in our lives. Where to live? What about the children's schooling and much more.
On top of this roller coaster of problems, the 'friendly' insurance adjuster was there to help. All sounded good until their estimates of the loss was presented. I don't know much about insurance but the estimates seemed pretty low.
This made us start looking for help. We interviewed several adjusters. Greenspan's professionalism and honesty convinced us this was the organization to go with.
Clay Gibson and his team was there in the beginning, middle and end making sure our claim was handled properly. Clay went to bat for us on numerous occasions and always looked out for our best interest. Never did he tried to convince us to accept a lower payout amount. Looking back, I have no regrets in selecting Greenspan with their years of experience and vast resources.
My elderly parents lost their home of 46 years to a fire caused by fireworks. We hired The Greenspan Company after realizing we were incapable of understanding and maximizing the full benefits of our insurance policy. Clay Gibson and his team guided us through the claims process, and in the end my parents gained a settlement that far exceeded the amount the insurance company initially offered my parents.
Without Clay and Greenspan, their patience, extreme attention to detail, and thorough knowledge of the insurance industry and how to work within their system, the house would never have been rebuilt to the level and expertise it was. The payments Greenspan received were a mere drop in the bucket compared to the benefits of partnering with them. Nhl 13 keygen music. We are forever grateful to Greenspan, Clay Gibson and the service they offer.
